Fabulous Friday!

There are a variety of race meetings taking place on Friday – a standard day meeting at Wodonga – their Cup Day – a twilight at Warwick Farm and a night meeting at Cranbourne… and we have runners at all three!

Kicking off our busy day is Rising Stock who contests the third race at Wodonga, the Bill McGrath Engineering Plate.

Right in the thick of things at both runs this campaign, the son of Tavistock looks nicely placed to break through.

“He was unlucky not to win last start,” said Michael Moroney.

“He has drawn nicely (barrier 4) for Jake Noonan and he should prove hard to beat.”

Sunset Magic resumes in the following event, the Sprint Showcase and whilst she is nice and fresh the 1400m is likely to prove too short for her.

“She is going well but she will improve on whatever she shows first up,” Moroney said.

The stable boasts a good record in the Wodonga Cup and we are hoping that Saint Or Sinner can overcome a couple of factors against him to figure in the finish.

“He has got a bit of weight and a tricky draw (10) so we will probably have to ride him off the speed and hope that he gets across.”

Impressive saluting at Flemington last time out, Saint Or Sinner “has trained on well.”

Running on nicely when resuming at Bendigo a couple of weeks ago, Deckhand is second up in The Locker Room Handicap and a step up in distance will help him – although he does like it even longer.

“The further he goes the better he will be but he did run really well first up and he does have a touch of class.”

Asadauskaite is our Sydney runner, the promising mare ready to show her best at her third run in.

“The race was originally 1800m and has been dropped back to a mile which is a bit of a question mark,” Moroney said.

“But she has drawn well (barrier one) which will help her to get a nice run and she looks hard to toss.”

Postnthyme (pictured) is our final runner of the day, due to take her place in the Fleetmark Handicap at Cranbourne.

On her eye-catching first up run the daughter of Pins would be a leading contender but the stable was disappointed with her latest unplaced effort at Flemington.

“Hopefully we have got her back to her best,” said Moroney – “she was terrific first up and we can’t fault her.”
