CAVALRY MAN BIDDING FOR HAT TRICK TODAY

Fort Laramie and Cavalry Man are our representatives at Kilmore today with Cavalry Man bidding for a hat trick.

Cavalry Man (pictured) is top-weight for the fifth race over 2000 metres with Jye McNeil aboard and drawn barrier three.

“We decided to run, the soft track is the query but it’s a winnable race for sure provided he copes with the ground,” Mike Moroney said.

“He’s up in weight today but he’s trained on well enough and drawn to advantage so if he can get through the ground then he should be hard to beat.”

Fort Laramie runs in the first race over 1100 metres on a track now rated as soft with Jordan Childs to ride.

It is the first start this preparation for the son of Frosted who is ready to go after some solid jump outs.

“He’s had no luck with barriers and we’ve scratched out of races recently because he’s drawn off the track,” Mike said. “He’s not much better today from six in a seven horse field but he’s ready to go and we’ve decided to run.

“We’re not sure about the soft track, we’re guessing a bit there but there is no reason why he shouldn't handle it.

“Hard to know the depth of the opposition with some well bred first starters but he’s fit and well and with some luck from the barrier then he’s there to run well.”
