IMPORTS RUNNING AT WARRNAMBOOL

Our two runners at Warrnambool on Thursday are both imports with Meteor Light and Pueblo set to run.

Pueblo is the first to go in race five, the Maiden Plate over 1300m with Jamie Mott to ride and jumping from barrier nine.

The three-year-old son of High Chaparral pleased Mike Moroney with a debut third at Geelong over 1340m on a heavy track in May.

“He has worked strongly leading into this run and is holding his condition well,” Moroney said.

“He has drawn out but it might not be the worst as he will get back and the outside may be the best part of the track which is rated a heavy 10.

“He showed last start he had no problem handling a heavy track and this does not look the strongest race so we’re expecting him to be very competitive.”

Meteor Light (pictured) ran a pleasing race on his Australian debut when making good ground to finish sixth over 1419m at Sale on May 30.

The son of Clodovil will find the extra distance today more to his liking.

“He has improved from his first up run and has worked strongly this week,” Moroney said.

“He will appreciate the step up to 1700m and we feel he will handle the heavy conditions – he has not raced on a track as heavy as this but won his only start on a soft track over a mile and a quarter in England.

“He does look to have found a solid race but with luck in running we feel he is a strong chance.”

Jamie Mott will ride Meteor Light who will jump from barrier 10 in the 11-horse field.
