A Hero’s Performance from Wonder Woman!

A heroic debut performance saw talented Showcasing filly Wonder Woman (pictured) provide a great thrill for her large group of connections when taking out the NZB Pear Series event over 800m at Avondale yesterday in the hands of inform rider Craig Grylls.

From the Elusive City mare She’s Invincible, Wonder Woman vindicated her strong trial form and is still very new to the racing game having ran about throughout in the straight over the final 200m.

“She’s a very quick filly, and just loves her work. It was great to see her come around them as it can be difficult to do over those shorter distances,” co-trainer Pam Gerard said.

“We’ll see how she pulls up over the next couple of days, but all going well we may be able to get her to the Ryder Stakes at the end of next month.”

Wonder Woman was bred by her part owners Casey and Michelle Dando of Bradbury Park, in conjunction with Michelle’s parents John and Margaret Messent.

Wonder Woman was formally trained by Lance Noble and was sent to Ballymore following Lance and Leigh’s departure from the their Matamata base to the ever growing Lindsay Racing establishment at Karaka.
