A Quiet Weekend For Ballymore

A quiet weekend looms for Ballymore though we do have runners in two states – Suspicious Minds heading to Moonee Valley on Friday night whilst Surpass races at Randwick on Saturday.

Lining up in the seventh race, the Slickpix Handicap over 1600m, Suspicious Minds has drawn nicely in barrier two for Patrick Maloney.

Impressive saluting at Benalla a couple of weeks ago, the Alamosa four-year-old has pleased us with her progress.

“She strikes a reasonable field,” Michael Moroney admitted, “but she is going really well and she is drawn well which is important for her.”

With the ability to put herself in the thick of things in running, Suspicious Minds can make her own luck from the outside gate.

“The only question mark with her is if she will now be looking for a bit more ground,” said Moroney.

We were hoping for some rain in Sydney this week for Surpass pictured) but are happy that, being in race two, he will “have early use of the track.”

With only six rivals in the First So Think Yearlings Plate, Surpass drops in class after contesting the Moe and Bendigo Cups and providing the track is not too firm he should prove hard to toss.
