Team of five to line up at Geelong

Ballymore will be represented by five runners at Geelong’s major race day today, including the lightly tried Famechon who found the line strongly at his last outing over 1210m and looks a danger in the first on the card.

“He’s a stakes placed performer and we are looking forward to him stepping up and living up to his ability. Looking at the field he should be a strong chance,” said trainer Mike Moroney.

The four-year-old son of Haradasun will jump from barrier 7 and will be ridden by Damien Lane.

Another running after a solid fresh-up performance is the son of champion sire Zabeel, Present Arms, who should appreciate the step up to 1700m today and will jump from barrier 9 with jockey Jake Noonan to carryout riding duties.

“The draw hasn’t helped him here and the trip is probably a little short of his best. He’s coming along nicely though and should take improvement from the run,” said Moroney.

Ballymore import Mister Impatience will be having his fourth run back this preparation when lining up on race five and he too will appreciate the step up in trip to 2400m.

Mister Impatience drops back in class for this event and will carry the top weight, while apprentice jockey Aaron Mitchell has been employed for riding duties – relieving Mister Impatience of two kilograms.

“He’s been working extremely well and we are expecting a strong performance from him today.”

“We are getting to his preferred distance range (2400m), although we are still unsure as to what track conditions he likes.”

Two runners will take place in the $120,000 Geelong Classic, Kiwi Dreamer and Simply Explosive, and both are making their third race day appearance.

Considered outsiders among the field, both are progressive horses and will continue to improve with racing and take plenty from the experience.

“Kiwi Dreamer has been working superbly since we put the blinkers on and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ran in the money,” said Moroney.

“Simply Explosive is a very nice stayer in the making, although this race might have come up a touch quick for him.”
