A Quartet of runners to feature at Te Rapa

The Ballymore NZ team are beginning to fire up in the new season with four runners set to step out at Te Rapa on Wednesday, two of whom are resuming after a short spell and will look to enjoy successful campaigns this time in.

First off the ranks is the lightly tried four-year-old daughter of Pentire, Soul Sista, who showed ability in her last preparation and will be lining up in the 1400m maiden event – race five.

“We are really pleased with how she has come along this time in,” said co-trainer Chad Ormsby.

“She’s had a couple of jump outs at home in preparation for Wednesday and we are looking forward to the season ahead with her.”

The Trelawney Stud owned galloper, Shamal, will be the other to resume and will be making his second career start in race six on the card.

The four-year-old son by Zabeel made his debut at Matamata back in June when running fifth to the highly regarded Soul to Squeeze.

Shamal has shown strong glimpses of promise during his time at the stable and Ormsby believes the gelding will be ready to put on a forward showing at Te Rapa.

“He’s (Shamal) really impressed me this time in and I think he will be very competitive in his race day return,” said Ormsby.

“There is a lot of upside to him and being by Zabeel we should see the best of him over more ground.”

Race eight on the card will feature two Ballymore runners with the last start fast flyer, That’s How We Roll, and consistent galloper, Fairy Cake, both looking to record their second career victories.

Fairy Cake has produced two gallant efforts since breaking her maiden on her home track at Matamata, and held her own when running third last start in Rating 75 company.

That’s How We Roll has thrown a couple of curves balls in his last few outings, although Ormsby is confident the best is still in fornt of him.

“He’s a tricky horse to train, but I think we have figured him out,” said Ormsby.

“It’s no secret he has ability and if he can replicate a performance similar to his last start he should be right there at the finish.”

“Fairy Cake was really tough when stepping up to Rating 75 company and she held herself extremely well against more experienced gallopers.”
