Four runners - four winners?!

It is not often that we head into a weekend confident that all four of our runners can win – but we are hoping that the next couple of days prove particularly fruitful ones for Ballymore!

“We look to have four really good chances,” enthused Michael Moroney who is looking forward to heading to Saturday’s Flemington meeting with Milkwood and Shenzhou Steeds (pictured).

Expressing disappointment that Rising Stars Final is restricted to 12 runners, Moroney has his fingers crossed that first emergency Milkwood gains a run.

“We are really happy with her,” Moroney said of the consistent four-year-old who has drawn nicely in barrier three for Aaron Mitchell.

“He recent runs have been very good and she loves heavy tracks.”

As does Shenzhou Steeds who is nicely primed for the Ascot Racecourse Handicap at his fourth run this time in.

“He is at his best now,” Moroney said – noting that the six-year-old has won four races on slow to heavy tracks.

Shenzhou Steeds will jump from the inside gate with champion rider Glen Boss aboard.

We also have a runner at Morphettville on Saturday, Devonshire Duke travelling across well.

To be ridden by Jamie Kah in the TattsBet Handicap, Devonshire Duke has been very good at both runs this campaign and he strips fitter for them.

“He is racing as well as he ever has,” Moroney said.

“He strikes a reasonable field but he has really been pleasing us.”

As has Nordic Duke who heads to Sale for the Gippsland Middle Distance Final on Sunday.

“He has drawn a tricky gate (15),” Moroney conceded, “but he is in great form, not missing a placing from his last four starts.”

“Like all our runners this weekend, he should prove hard to beat.”

In other stable news the talented Yesterday’s Songs – who missed a recent run with an elevated temperature – was impressive winning a jump-out at Flemington on Friday morning whilst imported mare Voleuse de Coeurs is back at the stables being prepared for her second crack at the Melbourne Cup.

And our exciting three-year-old Merion progressed nicely during his break and is back in work with the Caulfield Guineas his spring aim.
