Ballymore's Weekend Double

It was a good weekend for Ballymore Stables with winners in South Australia on Saturday and Queensland on Sunday.

Sent out favourite in the 2500m contest at Morphettville, imported galloper Picture Editor (pictured) had not had the best of luck at his previous outing but was able to atone in game fashion.

Settling nicely for Dom Tourneur, the six-year-old hooked out at the top of the straight to make his run as the leader skipped clear.

Really knuckling down over the final stages, Picture Editor put his nose out right where it counted – on the line!

In doing so he recorded the fifth success of his 29 start career; three of those victories – including another at Morphettville last winter – coming for Ballymore.

Congratulations to Picture Editor’s owners headed by the Sangster family’s Artiste Syndicate in whose famous green, royal blue and white silks the horse races in.

And also to the members of the Ballymore Stables syndicate who race Music Of Life who was so impressive breaking her maiden at the Sunshine Coast.

Appreciating the addition of blinkers to her gear, the daughter of Exceed And Excel showed good speed to lead and was never in any danger of defeat for Eddie Wilkinson.

Shooting clear over the final stages, Music Of Life put 5¼ lengths on her rivals, stamping herself as a horse to follow.

A $55,000 Easter purchase by Paul Moroney, Music Of Life is out of the imported Smarty Jones mare You Smarty Pants, daughter of the Gr.3 winner Til Forbid from a prolific American black-type family.

Also performing well on the weekend was Spitfire Lady, a game second in the Listed Glasshouse Classic - earning her second piece of black-type.
