Passing Parade Perfect

Promising three-year-old Passing Parade looks set for a bright future after a dominant performance breaking his maiden at Paeroa on Wednesday.

On the back of a game second at his Rotorua debut, Passing Parade was sent out an odds-on favourite and, despite an awkward start, he never looked like letting his supporters down.

Quickly recovering from his tardy beginning to sit second, Passing Parade joined the leader at the turn and by the 250m was a clear leader - his winning margin an impressive 1 1/4 lengths.

"He missed the start a fraction but he recovered well and travelled beautifully throughout," jockey Opie Bosson reported.

"I knew I had plenty of horse underneath me turning for home," he continued, and I thought I'd be hard to peg back."

"He showed good natural speed when he hit the ground,," said Chad Ormsby, happy that Bosson soon had Passing Parade away from the fence.

"It was a comfortable win in the end," he said, adding that the gelding is "quite professional."

"He looks to have more wins in store - he is a nice young horse on the way up."

Ormsby is hopefully that we can cheer home another winner this week with Gospel (pictured) taking his place in the third event at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Drawn barrier eight for Rory Hutchings, Gospel ran an encouraging fourth at his latest outing and the stable has been pleased with him since.

"He ran a nice race last start," Ormsby said "and that was a much stronger race than Saturday."

"He rises only one kilo and he looks well placed - providing he gets the right sort of run he should prove hard to beat.
