Jumper & Sprinter

Ballymore takes two different sort of horses to Paeroa on Wednesday but we are hoping that both – a hurdler and a sprinter – can prove competitive.

Coming on nicely since making his jumping debut a few weeks ago, Xalted lines up in the opening event – the Paeroa Racing’s Function Centre Hurdle over 2900m with Patrick Ormsby to take the ride.

A handy performer on the flat, Xalted is bred to jump with his sire Pentire producing many high class performers including Busby Glen and Sir Pentire.

“He takes on some proven jumpers but we are looking forward to seeing some improvement on his first hurdling run,” Chad Ormsby said.

Showing good fight when debuting with an encouraging second at Rotorua last month, Passing Parade has progressed nicely since and we are confident that she can go one better in Wednesday’s K.E Hill Contracting Maiden.

To be ridden by Opie Bosson, Passing Parade – a son of Holy Roman Emperor from the family of influential stallion Rainbow Quest – is, said Ormsby “very fit and ready to win.”

Forced to make an early run at her first start – hitting the lead a fair way from home, Passing Parade was headed only late, digging deep and showing plenty of courage.

“She has a good draw (barrier two) and she was good at debut,” Ormsby said – “we are hoping she can quickly clear her maiden.”
