Ballymore's Flemington Trio

Our three runners at Flemington on Saturday are in consecutive races so let's hope it is a very successful couple of hours for Ballymore!

Kicking off our day is About Square (pictured) who takes his place in the fourth event, the Coolalinga Handicap over 1100m.

To be ridden by Nick Hall, the talented three-year-old caught the eye with an outstanding run down the straight a few weeks ago and a strong case can be made that he was unlucky not to win that day.

“He looked the winner when the jockey dropped the whip,” Michael Moroney explained, adding that he has been extremely pleased with the horse’s progress since.

“We have kept him a little fresh and we have been really happy with the way he has been going.”

Next up is Noble Park who is expected to run an improved race in the Hiraji Handicap over 1600m.

Whilst safely held when resuming at Warrnambool, the lightly raced five-year-old did not relish the heavy conditions.

“And it was a very heavy track,” Moroney said, adding that Noble Park has since had a jump-out in which he performed well.

“As long as it is not too wet he should prove very competitive,” he said – “we are expecting sharp improvement.”

Picture Editor is the third of our Flemington trio, looking to be a “light weight chance” in the Gala Supreme Handicap.

In the placings at Sandown and Caulfield at his last couple, the imported Dansili gelding is rising in class but a drop in weight suits.

“He was a bit unlucky at Caulfield,” Moroney said, noting that the five-year-old was held up early in the straight – not really clear until the winner had the race won.

On Sunday we head to Sale where the prospect of a heavy track suits our two runners.

King’s View is the first of those although as third emergency we need a bit of luck just to get a run. Hopefully he does as he showed promise at debut and a rise in distance suits.

“He went really well at his first start and he won a trial on wet ground in New Zealand,” Moroney said of the Darci Brahma four-year-old, adding that he considers him “an extremely promising horse.”

Milkwood is our final runner for the weekend. She ran nicely enough at her Australian debut but her excellent New Zealand form was on heavy tracks and it was only dead that day.

“She gets her preferred footing this time,” said Moroney.

“The track was too firm for her last time but the run was still sound and it has brought her on nicely.”
