Cox Plate week runners

Whilst we don't saddle up a runner in a strong running of the Geelong Cup, we are looking forward to taking two very nice horses to the meeting - and we are confident of bold showings from both.

First of the pair - contesting the second race on the card - is the promising lightly raced four-year-old That's The Way who has always been held in high regard by the stable.

"It will be interesting to see him up to 1700m," Michael Moroney said, pointing out that the son of Pentire is bred to get ground.

"He has drawn nicely (barrier four for Glen Boss) and he should prove hard to beat."

The same goes for stayer Garud in the following race, a 2400m ratings handicap.

Only just beaten in a showcase event last time out, the imported son of High Chaparral has pleased us since.

"We have put the blinkers on," said Moroney, adding that the five-year-old "just needs luck in running from a tricky gate (14) to prove a big chance."

Thursday sees us head to Ballarat with another couple of runners - Sauv Blanc Babe and Sunset Magic to contest the same race, a 1600m Fillies & Mares Maiden.

Both fillies are having their third starts and both stepping up to the mile for the first time.

"Sauv Blanc Babe has drawn well (barrier one) and she can go forward from there," Moroney said, adding that the daughter of Zabeel "is ready to show more over the longer trip."

Sunset Magic has a wider gate (barrier 12) to contend with but she is also expected to run well.

"She is a really nice staying filly in the making. She keeps drawing out and has done so again but she can get back and hopefully finish on well."

Meanwhile our W.S Cox Plate hopeful Glass Harmonium (pictured) fared well in the barrier draw on Tuesday morning - the tough grey to jump from gate two.

"We are just hoping he jumps away better," said Moroney, disappointed that the seven-year-old cost himself any chance in the Toorak when missing the start.

"We have figured out that he has been slowly away at every second run so he should be spot on for Saturday!"
