Bendigo Saturday

Whilst all eyes will be on the Caulfield Cup meeting on Saturday (go Sabrage!) Ballymore will also be heading to Bendigo with a strong team of four nice horses.

Kicking off our day will be two runners in the second event, a 2200 maiden - Big Ragtrader and Miss La Bonga.

Both horses are stepping up from a mile and both are having their third start having been safely held at their initial outings.

But both are bred to stay.

"Big Ragtrader is a big, strong horse who has taken a long time to work things out," Michael Moroney said.

"He is getting better with practice and he should show some improvement."

"Miss La Bonga is in the same boat. She is a Don Eduardo half sister to a Wellington Cup winner (Cyclades) and it will be interesting to see how she goes at the trip."

Whilst imports look the horses to beat in the Caulfield Cup, we have one of our overseas purchases - Point Made - lining up in the fourth event at Bendigo, a 1300m handicap.

And he is a horse we think well of.

"He is a horse we have always had an opinion of," said Moroney.

"He ran well at his first Australian run (fourth at Seymour in June) and we put him aside. He won a jumpout quite easily at Flemington recently and he should prove hard to beat."

Second up from a spell in the eighth race, a 1600m handicap, is Major Coup who will appreciate stepping up from 1400m.

"He is a nice staying horse in the making. He might be a better horse in the autumn but he has shown enough to suggest that he can win a couple of races this preparation."
