Sale Saturday

Whilst many will be watching Saturday's feature racing at Flemington and Warwick Farm - with Ballymore sending the promising duo Murcielaga and Shenzhou Steeds to headquarters - it will be worthwhile to also take a look at Sale racing on Saturday.

We saddle up two runners in the second event, the 3Y0 Maiden Plate - Hidden Strategy jumping from barrier two for Jason Lyon whilst Saint Or Sinner has drawn barrier one for Luke Currie.

By Zeditave's excellent son Strategic out of the six times winning Danehill Dancer mare Mask Cheval, Hidden Strategy – a $46,000 Classic Sale purchase for Pual Moroney - has shown ability in jump-outs at Flemington.

"He is quite a nice horse," Michael Moroney said, "and he has had a few jump-outs so he is well practiced. In saying that he will improve on what he shows first up."

Saint Or Sinner, a son of St Reims, is a well regarded three-year-old with whose family Ballymore have enjoyed plenty of success - training his dam It's My Sin to Group One success in the Otaki-Maori Stakes and his half sister Divine Rebel (pictured) to a Group Two win in the AJC Chairman's Handicap.

"He is one we really like," said Moroney, "he has got his mum's speed and she was very fast. He can make the most of his nice barrier draw and we expect him to run well."

We are looking forward to cheering on two runners in the third event (a 1700m maiden) also - Epic Choice (barrier 7) for Luke Currie and Machine Age (barrier 6) for Jason Lyon.

A son of Dylan Thomas and a half sister to Redoute's Choice, Epic Choice has been safely held at his first couple of starts over shorter trips but a better showing is expected this time.

"I think he's an improver," Moroney said, adding that "it is a case of the longer the better for him."

A well related son of Flying Spur whose third dam Alydaress won the Irish Oaks, Machine Age found 1416m too short at his recent Echuca debut and he too is expected to improve.

"He and Epic Choice are two of our Derby hopes," Moroney said, "and his first run was pretty good considering that he got back on a track suiting the on-pacers. He is on the improve."
