Midweek runners

 =Midweek action=
A busy couple of days for Ballymore with some nice runners at Mornington and Werribee.

We have to wait for the final race at Mornington on Wednesday with Mythical loking nicely placed fourth up in the Steeples Mornington Handicap.

"We thought her last run was very good," Michael Moroney said - pointing to the Thorn Park mare's encouraging third at Crabourne two weeks ago.

"She is getting fitter and this is the right class for her at this stage."

A consistent two times winner from 14 starts, Mythical will jump from barrier 11 for apprentice Jake Noonan.

We take three runners to the Werribee meeting on Thursday, the first of those being the debutant Silent Humour in the opening event, the 2Y0 Maiden Plate.

A son of Elvstroem (pictured) whom Paul took a liking to at last year's Inglis sales, Silent Humour has been shaping well but is likely to improve as he matures.

"He has had plenty of practice," Moroney said - "quite a few jump-outs. Whatever he does he will improve on but the penny is starting to drop for him."

Silent Humour jumps from the inside barrier with Jason Lyon to ride.

Sleeping Wolf, who caught the eye with a late finish to run fifth first up at Traralgon three weeks ago, is our next runner - taking his place in the fourth race, a 3Y0 Maiden Plate over 1400m.

Drawn out in barrier ten for Jake Noonan, the son of Pins should run boldly said Moroney.

"That first up run was very good coming from well back and with natural improvement he should prove hard to beat."

Nordic Duke also looks a chance in the following event, a 1400m Showcase event.

"He ran a funny race first up," Moroney conceded (tenth over 1200m at Echuca), "but he did a lot wrong and we have made a couple of gear changes."

"Craig Newitt (who rode the son of Viking Ruler to his maiden win last time in) is back aboard and hopefully we will see improvement from him."
