Hoping for a Magic weekend

The $150,000 Gr.3 Queen's Cup is the feature event at Eagle Farm on Saturday and we are hopeful that Maythehorsebemagic can show his best over the 3200m.

Second over the same trip in the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes at Flemington two starts ago, the seven-year-old finished on gamely when dropped back in distance in the Gr.3 Tatt's Cup a couple of weeks ago and he has thrived since.

"He has done everything perfectly in between runs," a confident Michael Moroney said, "he looks a real live chance."

Drawn nicely in barrier seven, Maythehorsebemagic who - as a son of Zabeel is bred to run all day - will be ridden by Jay Ford.

Ballymore's second Eagle Farm runner on Saturday also looks a top prospect, the promising Chilean Plume nicely placed in the rich Brisbane Town Plate Maiden.

With $100,000 in prize money on offer, it is one of the best maidens to win and Chilean Plume looks nicely primed with an in-form Eddie Wilkinson to take the ride.

"We are really happy with him," Moroney enthused, "he has improved with the blinkers back on and he should prove really hard to beat."

We saddle up a couple of nice chances at the Flemington meeting also - Lordoftheparrots (pictured) the first of those in the $100,000 Banjo Paterson Series Final.

Not disgraced - doing a bit wrong - at his first try over a trip at his most recent outing, the son of Lord Of Warriors has the blinkers off in the hope that he will jump and settle better than he did last time.

"He only needs to relax and put himself into the race to be a chance," said Moroney, "he was just inclined to over-race last time. It will be interesting to see how he goes at the distance as I have always thought he would stay."

Sophrosyne meanwhile looks a good chance in the day's feature event, the Listed $150,000 Winter Championship Final.

With Glen Boss aboard the Testa Rossa five-year-old looks ready for the step up to the mile and his lead-up form reads well.

"It is a tough field," Moroney conceded, "but he has been racing really well this time in."
