First Appearance, Metrical and King Halston are our Wednesday runners at Geelong where the track is rated soft (5).

First Appearance is the first to go in the third race over 1715 metres and to be ridden by Jake Noonan and where scratchings have reduced the opposition to five.

Thje half-sister to Tofane has taken good improvement from her debut effort at Pakenham.

“We’re pleased with her and she has come on for her debut run where she was warming up late over 1400 metres and hit the line strongly,’ Mike Moroney said.

“The extra distance today should suit and the form out of her Pakenham run is working out well with the winner there, her stablemate Stylish, running well in the Mornington Guineas last Saturday.

“The soft ground should not be an issue and with natural improvement I expect her to be in the finish.”

Patrick Moloney rides Metrical and King Halston, Metrical (pictured) in the sixth race over 1412 metres and King Halston in race eight over 1715 metres.

“Metrical never got into the race last start at Pakenham but he was well back in a slowly run race on a softening track,” Mike said.

“He’s back in trip, is nice and fit and while the wide draw is ledd than ideal he’s there with an each-way chance in what looks a competitive race.

“King Halston is building to a win and thought he was brave finishing third last start at Ballarat racing on speed all the way.

“He’s fitter now, has drawn well and he should not have an issue with the ground or distance.”
