WODONGA BY DAY, MOONEE VALLEY BY NIGHT

Day and night runners for us today with The Rooster and General Firepower at Wodonga followed by Oak Hill and No Secret at Moonee Valley tonight.

Last start winner The Rooster (pictured) is the first to go in race four at Wodonga over 2050 metres where he will be ridden by Danny Beasley.

“He deserved to break through last start as he has raced consistently this preparation,” Mike Moroney said.

“He really appreciated the step up in distance and he was strong through the line winning comfortably.

“He’s done well since, he drops in weight and has drawn nicely so I expect him to prove hard to beat again.”

Blaike McDougall is aboard General Firepower in the seventh race over 1300 metres and drawn barrier one.

“He just got tired a bit late on first-up but he’s done well since,” Mike said.

“He galloped sharply with Oak Hill on Tuesday and he’s drawn the inside so if he can take advantage of that I’m expecting him to run well.”

No Secret is the first to go at Moonee Valley in the second race over 1600 metres under Jye McNeil.

“I will admit she has been disappointing however, her last start fifth here suggested she is racing into form,” Mike said.

“She’s hard fit for tonight, the small field could make things tactical and she’s drawn the inside but with ordinary luck I can see her running well.”

Oak Hill is in the fourth race tonight over 1200 metres with Jye McNeil riding and to jump from barrier two.

“He’s a horse we like and ran well without a lot of luck on debut,” Mike said.

“The form of that race is working out with the runner-up there winning since and our horse has certainly benefitted from the experience.

“His gallop on Tuesday was sharp, my only little concern tonight is the barrier however, the run has switched him on and with a clear run he’s there to run well.”
