FOUR FRIDAY RUNNERS FOR US

Another Friday of afternoon and evening runners for us today with Thunder Hawk, The Rooster and Oak Hill at Kilmore and then No Secret under lights at Moonee Valley.

Thunder Hawk is the first to go in race two for maiden fillies and mares over 1462 metres with Jye McNeil riding and Mike Moroney is pleased to get the daughter of American Pharoah to the races.

“This looked a nice race to start her off in and she’s a filly that has shown us natural ability,” Mike said.

“She’s had some practice with some jumpouts and obviously Jye McNeil is a positive.

“I’m not entirely sure about barrier one but we’ll leave that up to Jye. The main thing is for her to have a nice experience.

“There’s a bit of form in the race and she is the only debutante so we should get an idea of where she is at as we look ahead to the rest of this preparation.”

The Rooster is in the third race over 2012 metres and to be ridden by Jamie Mott.

“He’s racing well and I do think he will be suited by the step up in trip today,” Mike said.

“He came from last at halfway last start at Kyneton and he’s done well since so with ordinary luck today I’m hopeful he can break through.”

Oak Hill (pictured) makes his debut in the fourth race over 1112 metres with Jye McNeil aboard.

“He’s back a gelding this preparation and he’s been good,” Mike said. “We’ve put a cross-over on him for today as he can be a bit keen, the good draw will help him also.

“He’s another one that has shown us natural ability and this is a good place to get him started. It does not look the strongest of maidens so as with Thunder Hawk I’m wanting him to have a good experience as we look ahead with him.”

At Moonee Valley No Secret runs in the seventh race with Daniel Stackhouse aboard and Mike is looking for the mare to turn her form around.

“She’s disappointed me her last two starts after a reasonable effort first-up,” Mike said.

“She has won here at Moonee Valley and she will find tonight easier than her last start at Group 3 level. She looks well, I’m happy with her and her best form certainly will see her competitive however, she needs to turn things around.”
