Wall Street loves the mile!

Saturday is Doncaster Day at Randwick and we are looking forward to cheering on the classy Wall Street in Australia's richest mile handicap - the seven-year-old looking nicely primed on the back of a recent trial win at Randwick.

Hard fit for recent racing, Wall Street was not far away in the Ranvet Stakes last time out and it is well worth noting that nine of his 11 victories have come at the 1600m.

"We are really happy with him," Michael Moroney reported.

"He trialled well and his barrier draw (13) will probably see him into the best part of the track."

"And the wet ground will suit him - it is probably what he has needed all preparation - things seem to have fallen into place very well for him."

Meanwhile we hope for scratchings in the other feature event of the day, African Pulse second emergency in The Galaxy.

"He has good wet track form," Moroney said, "although most of the Galaxy runners do!"

"He has always looked like he'd run his best races on rain affected tracks so the rain is a bit plus for him."

If African Pulse does not make it into the Galaxy field there is a nice fall-back form him - the Gosford Guineas on Sunday.

There is also blacktype racing in Adelaide this weekend and we have sent Appiel over to Morphettville to contest the Listed City Of Adelaide Handicap.

"Sheila's Star will prove hard to beat," Moroney conceded, "but we have been pleased with her since she arrived from New Zealand."

"She has drawn well (barrier 2)," he continued, "and we will be disappointed if she doesn't finish in the first three."

Just the one Victorian runner this weekend - import Surface Tension lining up in a 1600m event at Ballarat on Sunday - and he looks nicely placed second up.

Only just beaten when resuming, he strips all the fitter.

"He ran a great race first up and he has trainedon really well since - he should prove hard to beat."
