FAVANNA ON DEBUT TODAY

Favanna makes her debut for us at Geelong today.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock has shown nice ability at home and Mike Moroney is pleased to get the Cambridge Stud-owned three-year-old to the races.

“It’s good to get her to the track for sure although she has struck a strong looking race with some well-bred fillies engaged including the half-sister to Winx,” Mike said.

“Our filly has ability and she showed that in her latest jumpout, racing on speed all the way and winning her 800 metre heat in fast time.

“She did a piece of work on Tuesday that was encouraging and she has come out of that in good order.

“She has drawn wide but they only have one corner and she has good gate speed. Whatever she does today she will improve on but I’m sure she will put herself in the race at some stage.”

Refreshing (pictured) is our other runner in race five for fillies and mares over 1421 metres with Celine Gaudrey riding.

“She’s been up a little while and has been racing well without a lot of luck,” Mike said.

“We had her in earlier in the week but felt today was a better option for her.

“She’s dropping down in class so she gets the weight which is why we have taken advantage of Celine Gaudrey’s claim. 

"She's hard fit, down in grade and I expect her to give a good account of herself."
