Ballymore ready for Sydney & Melbourne

Ballymore will be kept busy in two cities on Saturday - three runners at Moonee Valley and another two at Rosehill.

First up in Melbourne is Appiel, a well related mare having her first Australian start nd her first run since early January.

A half sister to December Draw (her dam purchased by Paul Moroney before that horse raced in Australia), Appiel boasts good fresh form and a consistent overall record.

"She is stakes placed in New Zealand," Michael Moroney said of the four-year-old who is to be ridden by apprentice Jake Noonan in the LF Sign Group Handicap - "and she is forward enough to show something first up."

Another well bred lass resuming is Revidere who takes her place in the Meadownick Sprint, apprentice Kate Mallyon to take the ride.

A full sister to the Gr.3 winning sprinter Fast 'N' Famous by Redoute's Choice, Revidere looked good breaking her maiden in the spring and has been given time to mature.

"She has struck a pretty strong race," Moroney conceded, "but she ran well at her only start last time in and we have been happy with the way she has been going."

Zabisco, a runner in the final event of the day - the Device Technologies Handicap - was disappointing when resuming but will strip fitter for a drop back in class and distance.

"We thought the faster pace of the 1200m would give him the chance to relax and finish off," Moroney explained - pointing out that the son of Zabeel over-raced first up.

"We do expect him to improve."

Up to Sydney where the first of our runners is the talented speedster African Pulse (pictured) who lines up in the Listed Darby Munro Stakes, Corey Brown to ride.

"He has drawn a horror gate (13)," Moroney said, "but he has the right form lines and in this of race should prove very hard to beat."

A last start ninth in the Newmarket Handicap, African Pulse was beaten only 3.2 lengths and was hot on the heels of Foxwedge who franked that form with a William Reid Stakes victory.

AJC Derby bound Sabrage is our other Sydney runner, the classy three-year-old tackling some of the country's best of his age in the $500,000 Gr.1 Rosehill Guineas.

To be ridden by Damien Oliver, the son of Charge Forward was a close up fourth in the Alister Clark Stakes last time in and he is nicely primed fourth up.

"He came off a similar run in the Stutt Stakes in the spring to win the Norman Robinson at this trip fourth up," Moroney pointed out, adding that his somewhat unlucky VRC Derby third shows that "he is able to mix it with the best three-year-olds."
