THATSALLSHEWROTE BETTER THAN BROKE

Given a beautiful ride, Thatsallshewrote (4 m Wrote – Lilyput, by O’Reilly) confirmed her ability with victory in the $20,000 Maiden 1400 metres on Saturday at Pukekohe.

Good enough to contest the Oaks Prelude (Listed, 1600m) on the course in February, producing a notable fifth, Thatsallshewrote ended her previous campaign following the Sunline Vase (Gr. 3, 2100m) in March at Ellerslie.

She quickened nicely to win a trial on 11 October at Waipa, ran fastest last 600m (35.9) for fourth to subsequent Wellington Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) winner Devastate (Vadamos) when resuming in the Maiden 1300 metres at Matamata, and the only hitch appeared barrier 12.

Posed with the task, Warren Kennedy, the reigning Champion Jockey in South Africa, now bolstering the domestic riding ranks in New Zealand, Thatsallshewrote was eased to last before settling 10th inner. Whether she had the makings to overcome an eight-length deficit passing the 600m was embellished with raking strides through the pack and she never lost any momentum given a clear passage inside the final 200m.

It was a smart ride and a very accomplished victory.

In the race sponsored by The Drakes/Ritchies, Thatsallshewrote drifted in betting to pay $7.10 & $2.60 on the TAB tote, running the 1400 metres in 1:23.7 on Soft5 footing.

Co-trainer Pam Gerard was aware of the enormity required from a wide draw, but also suggested getting back would suit her style of racing.

“She was dictated by the draw to go back, but we’ve let her find her feet previously irrespective of the draw,” she said.

“She made up plenty fresh-up for fourth, had worked well since, and we expected her to race well again.

“It was a good effort to come from way back there. He’s good from behind (Kennedy), patient, finds his way through without panicking, and keeps them balanced.

“She’s a leggy mare that still has to furnish and mature, but time has certainly helped her. She’s mentally better this time in and has ability.

“The form around her was good and hopefully she can continue to improve and measure up in the next grade, too.”

Selected by Paul Moroney and purchased by Ballymore Stables for $24,000 at the Karaka 2020 Book 3 Sale, from the draft of Highview Stud, Thatsallshewrote is owned by Savvy Racing Mooloo Syndicate (Mgr: Keith McDonald), Paul Magill, Georgina Workman, Grant Gurney, and Ballymore Stables NZ.

Thatsallshewrote is from the first NZ crop of Wrote. By sire of sires High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells), Wrote won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (Gr. 1, 1600m) as a two-year-old in the U.S., and now standing permanently at Highview Stud.

Wrote is a sire with exceptional pedigree, highly rated (A+) as a physical specimen, and by an internationally acclaimed sire (High Chaparral) that has so much success when bred with NZ mares.

The dam side of her pedigree is from a very good Waikato Stud family and out of a mare by multiple champion stallion and current NZ leading broodmare sire O’Reilly (Last Tycoon).

Through her sire lines, she carries a cross of immortal sire Northern Dancer.

Thatsallshewrote was strapped by Hari Singh.
