GROUP 1 SATURDAY FOR US

Two runners in two states for us this Saturday following the Doomben washout with Not An Option in South Australia and Quesadilla at home here at Flemington.

Not An Option (pictured) runs in the time-honoured Goodwood Handicap over 1200 metres with Patrick Moloney aboard and Mike Moroney says the four-year-old is in great order.

“He’s arrived safe and well and bright as a button,” Mike said.

“This is his toughest test to date but we could not be happier with him. He’s had a soft jumpout since his last start at Caulfield and is in terrific form.

“This does look a competitive race as you would expect for South Australia’s premier sprint but he could not be in better shape and I’m confident that with ordinary luck he can figure in the finish and a win will not surprise.”

Quesadilla runs in the last race at Flemington over the straight 1100 metres with Laura Lafferty in the saddle and Mike says the mare has pleased since her solid first-up fourth over today’s distance at Flemington.

“I was happy with her run first-up, she just tired the last little bit and is fitter for today,” Mike said.

“We’ve used Laura’s claim to help her and the mare has been placed at both her second-up runs in the past.

“It’s competitive of course but she’s fit and well and is there to be competitive.”
