Day and night runners for us today with Jungle Jim, Patrida and Shiriki at Moe and then The Commoner under lights at Moonee Valley tonight.

Patrida is in the first race at Moe, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1000 metres with Jordan Childs aboard and Mike Moroney suggests she can improve sharply on her unplaced debut performance.

“The outside barrier is less than ideal - if she does fly the gates then the plan will be to go forward but it’s up to Jordan to make that decision," Mike said.

“She’s got the pace to cross and lead and ahe strips fitter today from the debut run,

“It’s a nice Super VOBIS race which makes it attractive but it’s drawn a strong field as you would expect. Our filly can be a sharp improver with the benefit of the race experience

Shiriki starts a new campaign in the second race, the Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate over 1100 metres under Jordan Childs.

“She is another one that has come back a stronger sort and this looks a nice race to get her started,” Mike said.

“She comes into barrier six after scratchings which will help and she should be there on pace to take advantage. There looks a little bit of form in the race but she’s fit enough to run well off two jumpouts.

“She’ll improve off what she does today but she’s there to run well.”

Jungle Jim is in the last race over 1200 metres.

“He’s come back well and we’re happy with him,” Mike said.

“He led all the way to win his latest jumpout at Werribee without being put under too much pressure so he comes into this in good order.

“The inside barrier is a plus, I’ve added a tongue tie to help him and all things being equal I expect him to be hard to beat.”

The Commoner (pictured) runs in race five at Moonee Valley, a heat of the 955 metre challenge.

“She’s drawn well in a race that suits,” Mike said.

“I’ve kept her nice and fresh and she gets a chance tonight from the draw. She’s not had a lot of luck so far this preparation but with ordinary luck tonight then I think she can run well.”
