Three runners for us at Geelong today and some good chances.

Jungle Jim runs in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1247m with Jordan Childs in the saddle and to jump from barrier three in the six-horse field.

Mike Moroney has made a gear change and feels Jungle Jim will be better suited on a good track today.

“He settled second and then struggled on the heavy track in the straight when he debuted at Geelong,” Moroney said.

“He’ll be better for the experience and he will be better on a good surface today. I’ve added blinkers to him to help him focus.

“It’s a small field but there is a little bit of form in it. I’m pleased with the way our horse has trained on and I expect him to run a better race on a firmer surface and in the blinkers.”

Quail Hollow is in race six, the benchmark 58 handicap with Jamie Mott riding and a gear change.

“He’s another we have added blinkers too,” Moroney said. “On paper his last start sixth at Yarra Valley might look disappointing however, he was second-up, raced on the speed and was not beaten very far.

“He’s fitter today, the blinkers should help him to focus, my one little concern is the outside barrier but he’s a horse with early speed and he should be able to cross and get a good spot.

He’s got a bit of weight but this does look a winnable race for him and I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t run well.”

Arctic Wolf (pictured) rounds out the day in race eight, the benchmark 58 handicap over 1347m and Noel Callow riding.

It is the first start this preparation for the Sebring four-year-old who finished sixth last time out over 1600m at Flemington in July.

“I’m very happy with the way he has come back and his jumpouts leading into this have been encouraging,” Moroney said.

“He too has drawn the outside barrier which is less than ideal but he’s the best in the race and even though he has a bit of weight to carry I do think he will be hard to beat.”
