She Rocks!

Talented filly Born To Rock earned valuable black type with an impressive all the way victory in the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich on Saturday - continuing the great run the stable has enjoyed with its Queensland based team.

Always in control of the 1350m contest, the exciting three-year-old had her rivals well and truly off the bit coming to the turn, holding onto a good lead in the run home to salute by 1.3 lengths.

Kicking off her career in New Zealand where she was highly regarded enough to contest a couple of Gr.2 races, the daughter of Fastnet Rock (pictured) has matured and thrived in Australia - successful at two of her three starts this preparation.

"She has got a high cruising speed and she got the lead easily,” jockey Matthew Palmer said.

"Once I got to the half-mile and I was sitting quietly on her. I was fairly confident a long way out - I thought it would take something pretty strong to beat her."

Raced by Gkv Holdings and Michael Head, Born To Rock is a full sister to the stakes placed Cindarockinrella out of the imported mare Call Me Pretty - half sister to the northern hemisphere stakes winners Tiger's Rock and Warrior Queen (dam of four times Group winner AP Warrior). Champion stallion Storm Bird also hails from this family.
