Three pronged attack on Brisbane Cup

Ballymore looks a real chance of taking home a Brisbane Cup on Saturday, represented by three great hopes in the $300,000 Gr.2 event.

Hot favourite Glass Harmonium is one of those and, with an ideal draw of barrier four and Lisa Cropp aboard, there is considerable confidence surrounding him.

"He has trained on really well since his last win," Michael Moroney enthused -"he should again prove hard to beat."

Tough stayer Tinseltown, with the services of Kerrin McEvoy who won the Melbourne Cup for us aboard Brew, has come to form at the right time - an eye-catching second in one of the Cup's main lead-ups two weeks ago.

"That was a great run," Moroney said. "He has had a couple of go's at this race and hasn't had the best of luck."

Speaking of bad luck, Viking Hero struck plenty of that last time out, well fancied that day but striking severe interference. Fortunately he came through without a scratch and has progressed nicely since.

"We are very happy with him and he is in pretty well at the weights."

Sadly our Derby contender Quarterbar will not take his place, pulling up sore from track work on Friday with a tendon injury.

Meanwhile we also have three nice Flemington runners, kicking off with Oneman Wolfpack in the Rod Johnson Handicap.

"We have always liked this horse," Moroney said, adding that he was pleased that the rain had stayed away.

Our other two runners - Permit and Little Slapper - contest the same race, Heat 3 of the Banjo Paterson Series for stayers. Improvement is expected from the imported Permit who, in Europe, did not show much until tried over such triips.

"This is the right distance so it should be interesting," Morone said.

Little Slapper is expected to prove as competitive as she always does, the honest mare nicely drawn in five for Chris Symons.

"She always races well in this sort of race," Moroney said, adding that her major attribute is her ability to "make her own luck."
