RUNNERS AT DIFFERENT TRACKS ON FRIDAY

Runners at two tracks for us on Friday with Rue de Rennes and Spanish Peaks at Geelong and Anything But and Bill The Bee under lights at Cranbourne.

Rue de Rennes is the first to go in race five, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 2440m with Luke Nolen to ride from barrier five.

The daughter of Cape Blanco finished a good second last time out at Echuca and has improved since according to Mike Moroney.

“The track is currently in the soft range but it’s a lovely sunny day so it should improve, which will suit her,” Moroney said.

“She’s come on and improved from her last start, it’s an even sort of race with several different formlines but with ordinary luck I’m expecting her to run well and a win will be no surprise.”

Spanish Peaks is in race nine, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1225m with Jamie Mott in the saddle.

“He’s trained on well and he will be better suited by a firmer track,” Moroney said.

“We’ve changed his bit and put the ear muffs back on as his manners still need some work which is why we’ve kept him at the shorter trip.

“Today I’ll be happy to see him settle and run on - he’s definitely got the ability but he has to do things right.”

At Cranbourne, last start winner Anything But (pictured) is in race five, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 2025m with Billy Egan riding.

“There’s no rain forecast so I’d expect the track to improve into the good range,” Moroney said.

“It’s a stronger race than his last start win at Wodonga but he’s trained on lovely and he’s got a few things in his favour. There looks to be more speed in the race tonight which I believe will suit our horse and if that’s the case I’m expecting him to be in the finish.”
'''
Bill The Bee''' is in race eight, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1400m with Michael Dee aboard.

“This looks a nice race to start him off, he’s down in class so he’s got his share of weight but he can be a bit tricky so we’ve stuck with a senior rider,” Moroney said.

“He’ll likely go forward and make his own luck. He only had a short break and has had a couple of jump outs so I’d say he’s forward enough to run a bold race.”
