THREE GOOD CHANCES FOR US ON THURSDAY

Two runners for us at Seymour on Thursday before Chicago Cub travels to Pakenham for the night races.

The Boy Wonder and Bill The Bee are our runners at Seymour, The Boy Wonder the first to go in race five, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 2034m with Jordan Childs in the saddle from the inside barrier.

It is the third time at the races this preparation for The Boy Wonder who has placed at both previous starts, runner-up over 1608m at Echuca last time out.

Mike Moroney says the step up in distance here is ideal for the son of Cape Blanco.

“He’s drawn nicely and he looks ready to show his best after two runs over shorter trips,” Moroney said.

“He’s trained on well since his last start, he looks terrific and the distance is the real key.

“The other two at the top of the weights look the hardest to bet but with ordinary luck I think he’s a real winning chance.”

Bill The Bee commences a new preparation in race six, the Class 1 Handicap over 1422m, the first start since June for the son of So You Think.

“He’s got some weight and drawn out a bit but with his gate speed then I’d say he should be able to get across,” Moroney said.

“We’ve done enough with him for him to be winning provided he gets the right run but I’m happy with him and expect him to run a big race.”

Chicago Cub (pictured) is in race six at Pakenham off a strong last start win at Geelong on Cup day and Moroney is expecting another forward showing.

“I’m very pleased with him, he’s trained on really well since Geelong,” Moroney said.

“The track is currently given out as soft which shouldn’t worry him as he won his Maiden on a heavy trac.

“He’s a horse we’ve always had a good opinion of and although it looks a strong race, he’s drawn nicely in three, has Luke Currie to ride and I think he will be hard to beat again.”
