Three runners for us on Monday when Pueblo, Seminoles and Buffalo Bill head to Ballarat.

Pueblo is in race one, the Maiden Plate over 1600m with Billy Egan to ride and jumping from barrier four. The import pleased Mike Moroney with his first-up effort when finishing third over 1300m at Warrnambool.

“The track is given as soft and I think he should be able to handle it,” Moroney said.

“It’s a small field but there’s some depth in it. He’s done well since his last run where the winner has since come out and won at Moonee Valley last Friday night.

“Pueblo will be a lot better over this distance so I’m expecting him to run well and go close to winning.”

Seminoles runs in race four, the Maiden Plate over 1400m with Jake Noonan riding from barrier five.

It is the first start for the son of Reliable Man since finishing second over 2400m at Bendigo in June.

“The soft track shouldn’t bother him as it was soft for his last start,” Moroney said. “He’s done well for the break and this is a good place to get him started off.

“He’s had a couple of jumpouts and he’s ready to go, he’s like Buffalo Bill in as much as whatever he does today he’ll improve on and the scratchings have certainly reduced the opposition.”

Buffalo Bill runs in race five, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1400m with Jake Noonan to ride from barrier five in a field of nine after scratchings.

It is the first start for the son of So You Think since finishing third over 2025m at Cranbourne in May.

“It will be interesting to see how the track improves through the day,” Moroney said. “If it turns into a tough 1400 metres that should suit him.

“He’s first-up but he’s pleased me with his jumpouts and he’s a stronger horse this preparation.

“Whatever he does today I’m expecting him to improve on but that said, he’s capable of running a cheeky race.”
