A FITTER POLLARD IS OFF TO BALLARAT

Pollard is our Friday runner when he travels to Ballarat.

Pollard is in race two, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1000m on the synthetic track with Jordan Childs to ride.

Unfortunately Pollard has drawn the outside barrier in a field of 11 however, Mike Moroney has decided to let the son of Love Conquers All take his chance.

“I did think about it after seeing the barrier but they jump from a chute and then it’s a flowing corner into the straight,” Moroney said.

“We’ve seen horses sit wide with cover and not be too inconvenienced and there is a growing thought this is the best place to be on this new track.”

It is the second start this preparation for Pollard, which finished unplaced first-up on a heavy track at Bendigo last month.

“He’s worked really well since which is one of the main reasons I’m happy to start,” Moroney said.

“He was disappointing first-up but I’m prepared to say it was fitness and the ground and I’m expecting a better effort today.

“There looks some handy form in the race but it’s that time of the year so I’m looking for him to show us more like the ability he has shown us on the track.”
