A busy Friday with four runners at Geelong including The Memory Man and Rainbow Thief making their debuts.

The Memory Man is the first to go in race three, the Open Maiden Plate over 1200m with Jordan Childs riding and jumping from barrier seven.

Mike Moroney said the son of Niagara is a work in progress.

“He’s had a bit of practice at home but the 800m jumpouts we have might not be the ideal place for him,” Moroney said.

“He’s certainly ready to go the races and get started so the main thing today will be for him to have a good experience.

“I’d say whatever he does he will improve on but I’ll be happy to see him finding the line and gaining some experience.

Rainbow Thief runs in race four, the second division of the Open Maiden Plate (1200m) with Michael Dee in the saddle and drawn barrier three.

“He’s been ready to go for a little while now - we scratched him from a race here earlier in the month when he drew very wide,” Moroney said.

“That might prove a blessing disguise as he’s fitter now and has drawn nicely.

“He’s a horse I’ve got a bit of time for and has shown me something so this is a good place to get him started off, even though it looks a decent sort of Maiden.”

Touch A Cloud (pictured) is in race five, the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1200m and drawn the outside in a field of eight under Jordan Childs.

The daughter of Glass Harmonium finished fifth over 1200m on the synthetic track at Ballarat at her latest start.

“I’d think the track will have improved by the time she runs and it’s a race that sets up well for her,” Moroney said.

“There doesn’t look a natural leader in the race and even though she’s drawn the outside she should be able to cross comfortably.

“She has won on a heavy track so if she can gat across and relax than I think she can run well.”

Whosyourhousemate rounds out the day in race nine, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1700m with Jordan Childs aboard from the inside barrier.

It is the fifth run this preparation for the import which finished sixth over 1500m at Mornington last time out on June 10.

“Barrier one might not be the advantage it should be by the last race but against that, he does like it soft,” Moroney said.

“He’s extremely fit now and his gallop on Tuesday was excellent.

“He’s going into the race with a few things in his favour so as long as the track is holding up I’m thinking he gets his chance to win.”
