A HEAVY TRACK AWAITS AT MORNINGTON ON MONDAY

Three runners for us at the Queen’s Birthday holiday meeting at Mornington

Bellows, Meteor Light and Whosyourhousemate are off to the races however Flying Mr Davis and Brutal Power have been scratched to wait for another day.

Bellows runs in race two, the Stellar 2YO Plate over 1200m with Nikita Beriman riding from barrier six after scratchings.

The son of Zoffany finished fifth on debut at Moe last month and Mike Moroney says has improved since.

“I wasn’t disappointed with his first run and he’s a fitter horse coming into this,” Moroney said.

“His work has been good, the query is the heavy ground but he gets an early look at it.

“He’s had a jumpout on a soft track and handled it so if he can cope with the ground today I’m expecting a better showing.”

Meteor Light (pictured) is the original top-weight in race five, the Norman Waymouth Memorial over 2000m with Michael Poy reducing his weight to 59kg.

It is the fourth run this preparation for the import wwhich will be suited by the Heavy (9) conditions.

“We’ve been waiting for a heavy track with him and he’s got it today,” Moroney said. “I’d expect him to be on pace and he gets his chance.

“The draw is awkward but with ordinary luck then I expect him to be in the finish.”

Whosyourhousemate is in the last, the Handicap over 1500m with Jordan Childs riding from barrier eight after scratchings.

The import finished fifth over 1600m on the synthetic surface at Pakenham last time out.

“He doesn’t have any heavy track form and it’s not a help being the last race as the track will likely be churned up by then,” Moroney said.

“I’d be expecting him to go forward but there does look a bit of speed in the race so we’ll be happy to take a sit.

“If he brings his best form then I’m expecting him to run well.”
