TWO WINNING CHANCES IN TWO STATES ON SATURDAY

The Sydney carnival is winding down and we have another runner at Randwick on Saturday with a promising filly to represent us closer to home at Caulfield.

Tribal Wisdom (pictured) runs in race two at Randwick, the benchmark 88 handicap over 1200m with Kerrin McEvoy riding from barrier 10 after scratchings.

Mike Moroney said the grey will find this easier than his last start in the Group 1 The Galaxy where he was beaten 6-1/2 lengths behind Nature Strip and Pierata.

“He’s trained on well, he had a little bit of discomfort during the week with a boil on his mouth but that has burst and he’s over that now,” Moroney said.

“He’s trained on well and had an easy barrier trial since the last run.

“It’s a big field but I think it is a winnable race for him. The track has dried out, Kerrin knows the horse and with a trouble free run I’m expecting him to be hard to beat.”

Last start winner Tofane runs in race six, the Geoff Murphy Handicap for three-year-old fillies over 1100m with Damien Oliver riding again from barrier two.

Tofane impresssed winning comfortably at Ballarat at her last start and Moroney reasons the daughter of Ocean Park has several factors in her favour on Saturday.

“She’s drawn well and with Ollie aboard, a last start winner and a filly we’ve always had an opinion of,” Moroney said.

“There looks plenty of speed in the race but she’s going to have to be at her best as it looks a strong field and it will only be her third time at the races.

“She’s got the ability but not the experience and it will be interesting to see where she fits in - that said I’m expecting her to run well.”
