Three runners for us as on Thursday night at Pakenham including Des Moines who starts a new campaign.

Des Moines (pictured) is in race one, the 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate over 1200m with Patrick Moloney to ride from barrier three after scratchings.

It is the first start after an injury enforced break for the daughter of VRC St Leger winner Inkster.

“I can’t fault her on her work and jumpouts,” Moroney said. “She looks fabulous and her action is fine.

“She will improve out of this race but she’s forward enough to win and from the draw I think she will be right there and prove hard to beat.”

Outback Warrior is the next to go in race six, the Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1400m with James Winks riding from barrier three after scratchings.

“He’s drawn nicely and should get a good run from the barrier,” Moroney said. “His last start at Moonee Valley nothing went right and he’s done well at home since.

“I feel that although this is a handy enough field he is a good chance to get back to winning ways.”

Touch A Cloud is in race seven, the Fillies and Mares benchmark 64 Handicap over 1200m with James Winks to ride from barrier 10 following scratchings.

Moroney is not too concerned about the wide draw for the daughter of Glass Harmonium.

“I’m not too worried about the draw,” Moroney said. “When she won at Pakenham last time she was drawn wide and it allows her to roll forward at her own pace rather than get caught up in a speed battle.

“Unless she’s slow away of they go particularly fast I can see her rolling forward and settle into a rhythm.

“She found the 1400m a bit too far last start and I think this trip will suit her better and her best is good enough to win.”
