NO ARGUMENT - SHE'S A GODDESS

An impressive course/distance winner in December, She’s A Goddess (3 f Tavistock – Shalaka, by Lonhro) donkey-licked her rivals in the $10,000 Electrico Rating 65 1200 metres on 17 April at Matamata.

Ridden by four-kilo claiming apprentice Eilish McCall, She’s A Goddess travelled smoothly at a good clip in front, slipped a couple of lengths clear rounding the home turn and went on to win untouched by one and three quarter lengths.

On Dead4 footing, she ran the 1200 metres in 1:10.3, last 600m in 35.5, and paid $3.10 & $1.70 on the NZ TAB.

“I jumped her out the other day, so we knew we were coming in without a trial but Pam (Gerard) just said to rate her in front, give her a breather, and she came back to me nicely,” McCall said.

“I thought I had it and she’s a smart horse. She’s quite professional, quickened when I asked her, so faultless.”

Establishing a solid form line, She’s A Goddess has now won twice and recorded two seconds and a third from six starts.

Freshened since finishing second on the course in February, co-trainer Pam Gerard had She’s A Goddess ready to rock off 73 days.

“She showed a lot of ability last time in and had a freshen-up,” Gerard said. “She’s looking for a bit of autumn cut in the track and she came in without a trial. We took four-kilos off to carry 53kgs and great for Eilish (McCall) to get her first winner for Ballymore.

“We’ve given her a bit of time to avoid the hard summer ground and providing the tracks remain reasonable then she can go on over the next few months.”

She’s a Goddess was selected by Paul Moroney and purchased for $22,500 at the 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Sale, from the draft of Seaton Park. Bred by Murray Hardy and Paddy Preston (Sunlight Trust), she is owned by Gerard Peterson, Ken Millar, and Ballymore Stables.

From a mare that won over 1200 metres, She’s A Goddess is her second winner. The other, New Universe (Darci Brahma) is the winner of five races up to 1400 metres in New South Wales, from the stables of Chris Waller.

Further back in her pedigree sees the influence of breed shaping stallion Sir Tristram (Sir Ivor), as sire of her fourth dam, Eulogy Stakes winner Eau D’etoile, who in turn left Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay (Marauding). It is also the family of dual Group One winner Filante (Star Way).

She’s A Goddess was strapped by Samut Samir.
