TWO CHANCES AT DIFFERENT VENUES ON WEDNESDAY

The stable is in great form at the moment and is aiming to post another winner with Bianco Nuovo or Metson on Wednesday.

Rue de Rennes gave us our 10th winner for the month at Geelong on Tuesday and today we have Bianco Nuovo at the twilight meeting at Sandown and Metson earlier in the day at Seymour.

Metson is the first to go when he runs in race six, the benchmark 64 handicap over 1400m where he has drawn barrier two with Jordan Childs to ride.

It is the second start this preparation for Metson which finished fifth first-up over 1200m at Cranbourne on March 8.

“He’s drawn ideally and it looks a nice race for him,” Mike Moroney said.

“He’s coping with things well and put on a bit of weight which is good. Today looks a lovely race for him as long as he jumps with them and can use the barrier.

“If he can do that then I expect him to be hard to beat.”

Bianco Nuovo (pictured) is back at Sandown bidding to make it back-to-back wins at the track in race six with Mark Zahra to ride again.

Bianco Nuovo carried 58kg to lead most of the way to win at benchmark 64 level over 2400m and on Wednesday stays at the distance and class but has an extra 2.5kg to carry.

“Last start was his first time at 2400m and he showed plenty of fight to win. He’s been a bit of a work in progress but he’s still improving.”

Bianco Nuovo has gradually stepped up in distance since resuming last November when finishing runner-up to Declares War over 1400m on the Lakeside course at Sandown and has not missed a place in six starts this preparation.

“He’s been in a while but we’ve spaced his runs and he appreciates it,” Moroney said.

“Outside of his first start when he was a bit new, he hasn’t run a bad race really and I think he’s got the scope to keep on improving.

“It looks a handy enough race on Wednesday but he’s in good form and I expect him to run well again.”
