Another busy session for the stable with four runners at Pakenham on Thursday evening.

Bonaparte, Buffalo Bill, Seminoles and Flying Mr Davis are our runners as we bid to continue a fine run of form with three winners in the last two days.

Bonaparte runs in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1200m where he will jump from barrier two with Damien Oliver in the saddle.

“It looks a handy enough field but on exposed form this looks a good chance for him to break his maiden,” Moroney said.

“His jumpouts have been good coming into this and he looks ready to go first-up. He’s lucky with the barriers and D Oliver aboard so I’m expecting him to be hard to beat.”

Buffalo Bill and Seminoles both run in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1600m, Patrick Moloney to ride Seminoles from barrier two and Michael Dee aboard Buffalo Bill from barrier six after scratchings.

It is the second start this preparation for Seminoles which finished fifth at Bendigo when resuming over 1400m last month.

“He’s taken good improvement from that run,” Moroney said.

“He’s a horse that has shown us he should appreciate a trip so it will be good to get him out to the mile.

“He’s drawn to get a nice run and I do think he will run a better race.”

Buffalo Bill finished third last start over 1500m at Bendigo and Moroney expects he too will appreciate the extra distance of tonight’s race.

“We’ve put Michael Dee on as he’s a left-handed stick rider and we think this will help,” Moroney said.

“This horse just keeps improving and is still a work in progress. The field he meets tonight looks a fair bit stronger than his last start but it will be good to test him and see where he is at this stage.”

Flying Mr Davis is in race four, the Maiden Plate over 1400m with Rhys McLeod riding from barrier four.

It is the first start this preparation for the son of Savabeel which finished fourth over 1462m at Kilmore on debut last year.

“His manners are a lot better and his jumpouts and trackwork reflect this,” Moroney said. “He’s another work in progress which we expected, being by Savabeel and from a stout German family.

“This race is a good starting point for him and while I’m expecting him to run a nice race he will be better off over further and with a bit more experience.”
