BUSY FRIDAY NIGHT FOR US

A busy night for the stable on Friday with four runners at Cranbourne.

Lady Concetta runs in race three, Real Gent is in race six and Eagle Ridge and Metson both run in the last race of the night.

Lady Concetta is in the Maiden Plate over 2025m with Nikita Beriman to ride and Mike Moroney is looking forward to testing the Tavistock filly over a distance.

“She’s shaping as an out and out stayer so I’m glad she’s got a run,” Moroney said. “I’d like to see her stronger but if she can show something here then she can have a good break and strengthen up.

“She’s shown us a bit and her trackwork is good so now she’s getting out over her right trip and she’s fit enough to run well.”

Real Gent runs in the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 2025m, the furthest the import has run over.

“He’s giving us the impression he’s an on pacer the step up in trip should enable him to do that,” Moroney said.

“He’s drawn nicely in barrier four and he’s nice and fit now after three runs so we’ll see how he fares tonight.

“It looks quite an even race but if he can run up to his best than he’s capable of running a cheeky race.”
Eagle Ridge and Metson are both in race nine, the Benchmark 64 handicap over 1200m.

Eagle Ridge (pictured) was saved from running at Pakenham on Thursday and will jump from barrier four under Nikita Beriman.

It is the first start for the four-year-old since having throat procedure

“He’s trialled up nicely and I’m happy with him but he’s been off the scene a little while,” Moroney said.

“It doesn’t look the strongest race and if he and Metson bring their best then they should certainly run well.”

Metson is also racing for the first time since a throat procedure and he will be ridden by Jordan Childs.

“He’s bright and well and has trialled up nicely coming into this,” Moroney said. “I think he’s forward enough to run a good race but whatever he does than he will improve on.

“That said, I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t run well.”
