SUNDAY AT TE RAPA

Cambridge Jockey Club at Te Rapa

As on Saturday 25 November the conditions were: overcast and Dead4, rail out 8 metres. Showers forecast Saturday.

1.08 p.m. R1 6 She’s A Thief (2 f Showcasing – Steal, by Red Ransom) – Jake Bayliss; trialled very well for second and first, respectively, and debuts from barrier two in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO 1000 metres. Her dam was a winner over 1400 metres on good ground in Australia, and a bold first up performance is expected.

1.43 p.m. R2 9 Our Showgirl (4 m Ego – Showzeel, by Zabeel) – Jake Bayliss; resumed with a very good effort for third, despite being caught wide in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1200 metres on 1 November at Avondale. Second placed Belle Fascino (Per Incanto) has since won by 4.5 lengths last Tuesday at Waipa, and able to secure a decent position from barrier nine she rates an each way chance in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres.

2.18 p.m. R3 14 Za Za Gabor (3 f O’Reilly – Zaza Top, by Lomitas) – Jake Bayliss; debuts from barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. She displayed a good action quickening into third at the trials on 25 October at Te Aroha, and the inside draw is an ideal assist for a filly bred to get over more ground.

2.53 p.m. R4 3 Cape Ceilidh (4 g Cape Blanco – Minkum, by Minardi) – Jake Bayliss; had four starts up to a mile earlier in the year and resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. His dam won four races up to 2100 metres and this appears an ideal starting point.
