Three runners for the team at Mornington on Wednesday that features the debut of Dilemma Fish.

Dilemma Fish is the first to go in the second race, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1000m.

The son of Your Song has been well educated and pleased Mike Moroney at home.

“It’s difficult to say with several unknown horses in the race but certainly happy with our horse heading into it,” Moroney said.

“He’s shown us good gate speed and he’s fast so from barrier four he’s drawn to get the right run.

“That will be a big help at Mornington. It’s his first time at the races so provided the occasion doesn’t get to him I’m expecting him to run a nice race.”

Maria Elisa (pictured) runs in race seven, the Progress Signs Handicap for Fillies and Mares over 1000m.

Unfortunately, the daughter of Denman will jump from the outside barrier but the task has been softened by four scratchings and Moroney is keen to start.

“It’s not the strongest of races on paper and with her speed she should be able to cross and be on the pace,” Moroney said.

“She can earn some prizemoney as opposed to waiting to give her a jumpout so we’ll take our chance.

“She’s going to need some luck obviously but if she can get the breaks then I feel she’s a winning chance.”

Dornoch is the last to go in race eight, the Benchmark58 Handicap over 1500m, after being scratched from his race at Ballarat .

Moroney explained the better barrier draw at Mornington swayed his decision.

“He’s drawn six and will jump from five after the scratching which is a better option for him,” Moroney said.

“He’s fitter for the first-up run and while he’s still got some improvement to come he’s fit enough to run a big race in what doesn’t look an over strong contest.”

Patrick Moloney rides Dilemma Fish and Maria Elisa with Jordan Grob claiming on Dornoch.
