A busy day for the stable with four runners on a soft track at Sale on Sunday but Mike Moroney is confident there can be a winner or two.

Rue De Rennes goes first in the 3YO Fillies Maiden over 1200m. The daughter of Cape Blanco is on debut and trainer Mike Moroney is a little concerned over her barrier.

“Normally we would be happy drawing barrier two but she doesn’t possess a huge amount of gate speed so it might not be a huge advantage,” Moroney said.

“She’s shown us good ability at home but is still a bit green and a bit new so this will be an experience for her.

“If she can get a nice run in the race and some room in the straight then we are expecting her to run well, albeit in what looks a strong race.”

Bouwmeester (pictured) runs in the second race, the Maiden Plate over 1000m, and is on another learning curve.

“We’re happy with him but he just has to do things right on race day,” Moroney said.

“If he can jump cleanly and put himself on the speed I think he will be hard to beat. His work has been good and we know he’s got the ability, it’s just a question of him putting it all together on race day.”

Equestria runs for the second time in the seventh race, the Benchmark64 Handicap over 1200m and the son of Your Song has pleased Moroney since his impressive debut.

“He’s improved and going the right way,” Moroney said. “He is up against older horses here so he’ll need to be a bit smarter but we do think he has a touch of class.

“He did a bit wrong at Echuca and just has to do things right as he gets up in class against more experienced horses.

“If his manners are right then I think he can win again.”

Battle Zone rounds out the day in race eight, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 2200m and bidding for back-to-back wins after scoring at Geelong at his last start.

“His work has been terrific and I’m really happy with the way he is going,” Moroney said.

“Ideally we’d like a firmer surface but he’s a go forward type and it doesn’t look a strong race.

“He’s had a little bit of time between races but I think he can win again if the ground isn’t against him.”
