Radipole (4yo g Rock of Gibralter x Just Little) the French import sailed to victory on his third Australian start at Caulfield on Saturday when taking out the Quayclean Handicap event over 1800m in the hands of Brian Higgins.

His previous two starts have seen him over-racing slightly, but that was old news after he put himself right in the race from the hop and settled beautifully just in behind the pace on the rail.
It was at the 100m when he showed a magnificent display of grit and courage to find a tight gap, using his turn of foot to drive through for win.

“He has taken to Australian racing very well and does have some real ability. We have high hopes he will become a Group 1 performer” said trainer Mike Moroney.

“It was a strong win and what I was particularly impressed with, was how hard he tried when forcing his way through the tight gap. It’s not easy for these gallopers to transition from French style racing to the way we do things here but we couldn’t be happier with him. He has showed us he’s definitely going to be a 2000m horse”

Moroney continued, “He will head for a quick break now and enjoy some time off and a change of environment before coming back for the spring”

A €360,000 2016 Arqana Arc sale selection by Paul Moroney Bloodstock on behalf of Ballymore Australia, Radipole (formerly trained by Jean-Claude Rouget and known as Justwantacontact) won four of his six starts in France including a listed stakes race.

He is owned by a wonderful group of long-standing Ballymore clients and carries the familiar colours of Rupert & Cheryl Legh.
