Brazilian Pulse strongly fancied in 1000 Guineas

The Ballymore team is looking forward to Caulfield Wednesday, the stable looking a big chance of securing Group One glory with exciting filly Brazilian Pulse.
Unlucky not to win the Edward Manifold Stakes after a tough run at her latest outing, the daughter of Captain Rio pulled up very well and has pleased Michael Moroney with her progress since.
"That last run was very good," he said, "she was just a bit green when she got to the lead."
"She has trained on very well - we are very happy with her. Any rain about won't worry here and we think she will prove hard to beat."
Drawn barrier 12 of 16 runners (to come in one with the emergencies out), Brazilian Pulse will be ridden for the first time by Michael Rodd.
She is one of five nice horses racing for the stable at Caulfield on Wednesday. Earlier in the day Absolutelyawesome steps up to city grade after an impressive debut victory at Kilmore.
A promising son of Zenno Rob Roy, the three-year-old tackles some handy types in the Pura Light Start Plate but Moroney feels that he can finish right in the thick of things with Glen Boss aboard.
"He is a nice horse in the making," he said. "The only question is whether he makes the grade this preparation or next."
In the race after the Guineas - the Listed mile event for mares, we are represented by two chances, Platinum Passion and Our Tigress.
The former is drawn out wide but her first up run was excellent and she has, says Moroney "really improved with that one run under her belt."
"It is a handy mares race but she is a very good mare - we have a pretty high opinion of her."
A granddaughter of the mighty Horlicks, Platinum Passion will be ridden by Craig Williams whilst Craig Newitt will be aboard Our Tigress who is also second up.
On the heels of the placegetters first up at Sandown, she did not have the best of runs on that occasion, forced to be used up a bit but able to box on gamely over the final stages.
Viking Hero is our chance in the final event, the Betfair Handicap over 1600m. He really caught the eye with a strong late finish when resuming at Sandown and with blinkers back on he should, says Moroney "he bard to beat."
