Brothers Make Trip Down South

The Valachi Downs owned half-brothers, Savile Row (pictured) and All Knitted Up, will make their southern debuts on Saturday when lining up in their respective races at Asburton.

Savile Row will hope to cement his Group 1 2000 Guineas bid as he takes on a quality field of three-year-olds in the Listed Barneswood Stakes over 1400m.

The striking son of Makfi has drawn ideally in barrier two and will have the services of leading rider Mark du Plessis.

“We couldn’t fault the manner in which he has travelled down in, he’s isn’t fazed by much, and we’re looking forward to Saturday’s race,” co-trainer Pam Gerard said.

“We hope to make the most of his good barrier and take a forward position – it’s a very strong field so he’ll have to be at the top of his game.”

Savile Row’s half-brother, All Knitted Up, will be racing one event later when he competes over 2100m at the Rating 65 level with Valachi stable rider Sam Collett engaged.

“He’s up to his right distance now and will appreciate good track conditions, so we’re hopeful too much rain doesn’t fall.”

“There are some nice races with good prize money on offer down here for him and we’re hoping he can get a piece of it.”
