Ladies’ Day at Caulfield

It’s Ladies Day at Caulfield and what better way to celebrate than see one of two Ballymore runners, Alaskan Rose (pictured) and Daniela Rosa, take out the Group 3 Nick Johnstone Real Estate Ladies’ Day Vase over 1600m.

Coming into the race hot off an impressive last start victory at the same venue, Alaskan Rose (Encosta de Lago x Saskia) looks well placed to produce another top performance and clearly loves the Caulfield course having won two of her three career races there.

The daughter of Encosta de Lago will be ridden by Patrick Moloney and has again drawn a touch wide, but is likely to get back in the early stages and replicate the turn of foot shown at her previous outing.

The second runner in the race is the talented Daniela Rosa (Dane Shadow x Celestial Babe) who is looking to bounce back after a below par performance at Moonee Valley – after expecting to go close – and looks a good opportunity to acquire some valuable black-type.

Daniela Rosa has also copped a wide barrier draw and will have the services of Luke Currie.

One horse that has the team very excited is the unbeaten son of Zoffany in Barthelona (Zoffany x Barcelona Girl) who faces his toughest test when taking on fellow three-year-old’s in the $350,000 Blue Sapphire Stakes over 1200m.

Fellow last start winner Dornch (Pins x Charlotte’s Revenge) will be hoping to further his credentials in the three-year-old Rating 78 Handicap event, while classy stayer Margin Trader (Tavistock x Power and Might) will be out to go one better after chasing a good one home at Moonee Valley last start.

Loyalty Man (Fastnet Rock x Imperial Beauty) is the last of the six runners and will have to overcome a horror draw in the three-year-old + Rating 84 Handicap over 1400m.

The son of Fasnet Rock has taken plenty of improvement from his last run and will be a chance of adding to his already tidy second up record.
