Ruby Armani Dominant Second-Up

Exciting mare Ruby Armani illustrated just how much improvement she had taken from her first up outing when taking out the bloodstockauction.com Rating 65 event over 1300m at Taupo on Friday.

Carrying the colours of Kylie Bax’s B.A.X Syndications, Ruby Armani missed the kick which forced rider Mark du Plessis to take a more quiet approach at the tail end of the field.

The experience shone through with du Plessis making a move early and not allowing his opposition to get too far ahead, and once the daughter of Makfi balanced up in the straight, she let down a very exciting turn of foot to swap her rivals in the closing stages.

“We knew she’d improved immensely from her first up run and it was great to see her vindicate her track work,” co-trainer Pam Gerard said.

“Mark (du Plessis) was very taken with her effort and felt she would improve again and may be even up to winning a couple of nice races this preparation.”

Ruby Armani is by the inform sire Makfi and is from the unraced Saint Balldo mare Trujilo.
