Classic Filly in the Making?

The purple patch of form Ballymore is currently experiencing was nearly extended by two runners at Benalla on Monday with first starter Dornoch (Pins) going awfully close to breaking his maiden at his first attempt, while exciting 3YO filly Mia Rosa (pictured) also produced an eye catching runner-up performance.

Coming from well off the pace, the quality daughter of Makfi made up significant ground in the final stages of the 1400m event and looks a serious staying filly in the making – maybe be even another exciting classic prospect.

Mia Rosa has now had two starts for two gallant performances and on the back of Monday’s effort, she will undoubtedly take plenty of improvement for the experience and step up in distance next time out.

Mia Rosa is owned by long-time client Lib Petagna who has plenty of success with the stock of Makfi – namely Group 1 winner Sofia Rosa.

Dornoch was also an eye catcher at his very first public outing when looking the winner at the top of the straight only to be run down late in the final stages.

Trainer Mike Moroney was always adamant he would take benefit from the outing and this was evident as the son of Pins illustrated times of greenness throughout and even found himself a little lost when hitting the front.

Moroney has an exciting line of three-year-olds that have stepped out in the early weeks of the new season which should bode well for a fruitful Spring.
