Three-year-olds claim back-to-back winning double!

The New Zealand arm came up trumps yesterday recording two wins, from only two runners, at Tauranga courtesy of Keep On Coming and Alakazm (pictured).

Keep On Coming was successful in taking out the Vistamax Led Super Screens 3YO event over 1200m and was given a very confident ride by jockey Craig Grylls.

Jumping well from her handy barrier draw, Keep On Coming was able to take a position just in behind the leaders and travelling sweetly throughout the running. Grylls peeled out three-wide and clearly had a stack of horse under him as she let down stylishly over the concluding stages to win by a length.

“It was a great win and it was very rewarding to see her live up to what she has been showing us at home,” co-trainer Pam Gerard said.

“The 1200m was probably too short for her, but she’ll take plenty of improvement from the outing and I think she is heading in the right direction for a good campaign.”

Keep On Coming is by Shamoline Warrior from the three-time winning Keeper mare, Keeper Coming, and carriers the colours of prominent owner and breeder Gerard Peterson. Ballymore’s bloodstock consultant, Paul Moroney purchased the filly at the 2014 Karaka Yearling Sales and also shares in the ownership.

Alakazam proved just as impressive in the following race when well rated by inform jockey Michael Coleman. Jumping to the front with ease, Alakazam went to sleep and travelled beautifully throughout before giving a great kick at the top of the straight and putting away any doubt over the final 250m.

“Her work has been top shelf and Michael rode her a treat – she’s another that will take plenty of benefit from the outing,” Gerard said.

“They are a great group of owners and I think they’ll have a great time racing her over the coming months.”

Alakazam was also a purchase by Paul Moroney Bloodstock, although on this occasion it was at the 2013 Karaka Weanling Sale. Moroney also retained a share in this filly and races her with Craig Lindberg, Simon Moutter, Simon O'Connor and Andrew South.

Congratulations to all our owners and connections concerned!
